I’ve been between books for the last couple of months and as usual, it’s taken a while to focus my thoughts on the next one. If I’ve written a “big” book, one that’s taken a lot of my energy, then it can be difficult to switch my thinking onto a new project. Shockingly (to me), I spent nearly two years on The Sex Club series (book 1 came out in August 2022, and obviously, I’d spent several months working on it before that). That definitely qualifies as a big project! I’ll revisit the characters again in other stories, but now the dust has settled, I’m confident it won’t be in a The Sex Club: Book 5 – I got to exactly where I wanted to with the storyline there, anything new with those characters will be in something new.
The other thing about a project as big as The Sex Club is that it takes a lot of my time, some of which inevitably gets stolen from the day job. After book 4 came out I had to give some of that time back! Eventually, of course, I started writing again – there were too many story ideas knocking around in my head, fighting to get out. So, for the past few weeks I’ve been sorting them out, working out which ones to prioritise. Doing this is always a process with lots of dead ends. I wrote 1,000 words which, if published, would have to be under another pen name – a bit of a waste of time, in other words! Then I went back to a manuscript called Welcome to Hardshaft Hall and added a couple of thousand words to it. That – if published – would be a follow-up to “Lady Cecily Solves a Problem” in the Threesomes, Moresomes, Couples, Solo collection. I eventually decided it wasn’t the story I want to work on right now.
After a bit more messing around and some time spent making mock-up book covers, I finally settled on a project, one I’m quite far into now. What is it? That’s something I’ll reveal in my next update!
