Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023!

That’s another year over, and a new one about to begin. Thanks for reading my stories in 2022, it means a lot that my work is finding readers, and that they’re being enjoyed. I hope everyone reading this is well, and has a safe, healthy 2023.

As I’m here, you’re probably keen to learn if there’s any chance of seeing another book from me anytime soon. The answer is yes – I’ve been working on The Sex Club Book 2: Club Night and it is coming along nicely! It shouldn’t be too far into the new year before it is finished and published. At a guess, I’m about 75% of the way through it, but that’s very much a guess – I know how much more story there is to tell, but I’m less sure about how many words it’ll take to get there.

Finally, a few thoughts about 2022. It was a tough year, writing wise – the day job took up way more time than I liked, and did so in ways that made it less and less pleasant to do. Even so, I reckon I wrote a little over 60,000 words of erotica (on average, when days are ‘mostly’ free to write, I do about a 1000 words a day, which says a lot about how few days were free this year). Those 60,000 words resulted in three published stories, plus a big chunk of the work-in-progress. The new books were (in order) Swinger Wife to Hotwife, Teaching Temptation, and The Sex Club Book 1: Taking the Leap.

The Sex Club Book 1 has done well, and is still attracting new readers. I’m hopeful there are people waiting eagerly for Book 2, and that the release of Book 2 will trigger some new interest in Book 1 too! As I said, I’m making good progress on Book 2, so expect it soon. The story arc demands that there will be at least a Book 3 as well. So that’s something else to look forward to in 2023!

At the other extreme, Teaching Temptation was a total flop, easily the least successful story I’ve ever written. Practically no one read it. I liked it, and I enjoyed writing it, so if you’re reading this and you haven’t read it, I can only ask that you give it a chance (the sex is hot)! Maybe I missed the mark with the ‘kink’ (slightly older female teacher and younger man), or maybe it’s just that people don’t want to read my erotic romance stories (my sales figures make it clear that threesomes, foursomes, and wifeswapping are where the money’s at for me). I don’t think I’ll rush to tell another story along these lines but as they’re stories I enjoy writing (I’m thinking about stories like Islands and The Sin of Love here), I’m sure I’ll write another in the future for my own satisfaction, if not for the sales!

Swinger Wife to Hotwife was somewhere in the middle. A moderate but not complete success, mostly because I used it as a chance to experiment, I think. It was that rare thing from me, a story told in first person, and it took an angle that people were either going to like or dislike! I enjoyed adding it to my catalogue though, but I’m not sure I’ll revisit the characters anytime soon.

Anyway, despite all the challenges, I enjoyed the writing I did this year and I’m looking forward to 2023 and writing the books I’ve got planned. In the meantime, take care and have a good year!
